This year’s scholarship is awarded to a young woman who has served Our Lady of Grace as an Alter Server and Youth Group member doing things such as caroling at Senior Living Facilities, wrapping Christmas gifts for our Giving Tree and baking cookies and pies for the homebound While a student at St. Joseph High school she worked on various service projects and volunteer opportunities to serve the community and the church with projects such as food and clothing drives benefitting the Bridgeport Rescue Mission.
In her junior year, this young woman volunteered weekly at Sterling House’s After School and STEM programs. She continued throughout the summer bridging her junior and senior year by volunteering at their summer school program.
This year we are happy to recognize and present this year’s scholarship award to Carolyn Elizabeth Takacs with a $500.00 check and certificate of recognition.
Elizabeth wants to continue her faith journey as a Catholic in what she described as a “lifelong journey” in her essay, supporting the church and the communities she finds herself in. Carolyn summed it up best by stating “I will continue to help others, be kind and make others around me happy just as Jesus did.” Please join us in celebrating Carolyn’s achievements and our prayers for her as she continues to serve the Lord into the future.
